This workshop was designed to provide clinicians with an introduction to the assessment of children, teens, and adults suspected of having autism spectrum disorder. Clinicians will learn how to structure and plan an ASD assessment, with consideration given to diagnostic differentiation of disorders with shared symptoms, and a discussion of the important elements to include in an ASD report.
Your Trainer
Dr Lisa Reisinger is a developmental psychologist who has experience working with individuals with autism for over 25 years. She is a certified ADOS-2 and ADI-R independent Trainer through both the STAR Centre, University of California at San Francisco and the Centre for Autism and the Developing Brain at Weill-Cornell. She is a leading clinician in the differential diagnosis of autism and its related populations. She has many years of experience as a university lecturer (McGill University) and she has written several peer reviewed scientific journal articles and book chapters.
Day 1: Introduction to ASD Assessment
Learning Objectives:
- How to structure a mental health assessment for individuals suspected of having ASD, using a ‘best practices’ approach.
- How the clinical intake can inform the choosing of instruments (and or use of a multidisciplinary team) for an ASD assessment.
- To identify best practices for the diagnostic assessment of a person suspected of having ASD.
- Important elements to include in the report of an ASD assessment.
DAY 2 Introduction to Differential Diagnosis when assessing a child, teen, or adult suspected of having ASD’
Learning Objectives:
- Identifying syndromes or conditions that share symptoms with ASD in various stages of development, childhood, adolescence, and across adulthood.
- Discuss how development influences symptoms of ASD.
- Discuss how the developmental interview can inform the ASD assessment through the use of 3 case studies.
Target Audience
- Diagnosticians and clinicians involved in the assessment of children, teens and adults suspected of ASD.
Cancellation Policy
The registration fee will be refunded in full less an administrative fee of $ 50, if the cancellation request is made 15 days before the event. There will be no refund for a cancellation made within 15 days of the event. Clinique Spectrum reserves the right to cancel any conference / training / event in case of insufficient attendance.
